SKY RANCH BACKPACKING TRIPS

Step away from the familiar and start exploring God’s creation in the pristine Rocky Mountains. Sky Ranch has a long history of taking youth out on trail and seeing sites enjoyed by few others. Experience the thrill of summiting a peak and seeing for miles in every direction. Challenge yourself as you walk through a high alpine meadow. Feel the peace of sleeping next to a mountain stream.

All trips leave directly from camp into the more than one million acres of public land surrounding our property. Trips go into the Roosevelt National Forest, the Comanche Peak Wilderness Area, and a remote corner of Rocky Mountain National Park. There are exciting route options for everyone, including those who have never been on trail and those who have climbed all around the world. A life-changing trip is calling. There are three distinct trip options, see below for description.

For every trip, we provide: • Two trained, Wilderness First Aid certified guides with GPS and long range radios • Tents and sleeping pads • 2 MSR Whisperlite stoves and mess kits • MSR water filters and iodine water treatment • Kelty adjustable backpacks • First class meals, combining dehydrated and fresh foods • Wilderness focused Bible study and prayer practices

PROGRAM OPTIONS – All program options are $415 per person (rafting extra)

Wilderness Journey Surprise yourself with a traditional loop-backpacking trek. The Wilderness Journey will take you over high mountain passes, to the top of peaks, and to hidden streams and lakes. Each trip is geared to your group’s wants and abilities. This is a trip into the high country that you’ll never forget.

Timberline Trail Timberline Trail trips establish a base camp high in the mountains in order to take day hikes to locations not normally reached with full gear. Enjoy camping near rock formations or in cool, wooded forests near timberline. Day routes vary according to group ability but choices include scenic overlooks above timberline, hidden lakes filled with trout, or the site of a B-17 crash.

Taste of the Mountain Not quite ready for a full week on trail? Call our office to set up a trip designed to meet your group’s needs. Number of nights, difficulty of trail, and specific destinations are all determined by your group. In addition, you can add a day of rafting, time on the high ropes course, a day of service, or a BBQ in our chuckwagon area to top off the experience. Each trip is customized for your group. Prices are determined by your individual requests.
